Looking west, a photograph of about 1898, before its demolition to make way for Queen Victoria Street, built between 1900 and 1904. The lamp on the left hand side is on the outside of the Boy and Barrel Inn. The Providence coach to Thorp Arch ran from the Boot and Shoe every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 1835 to 1844.
