Little London is an inner city area of Leeds just to the north of the city centre, currently comprising largely council housing built in the 1950s and 1960s. This virtual tour of Little London’s history was compiled in conjunction with Past Present Future Little London, a community research and arts project run by Community Action Little London and Little London Arts. Thanks to the organisations mentioned above and especially Little London residents Lloyd Lythe and Livija Upmalis.
This photo shows a view of Back Carlton Terrace taken on 7th August 1959. The houses have neat little patches of garden, and a line of washing is blowing in the breeze. Part of Back Carlton Terrace can be seen on the left, then nos. 5 and 7. The last building on the right is the side of 16, Carlton Terrace. The gardens of these houses looked onto Dorrington Road.
