Thornton's Arcade

Interior view of Thornton's Arcade showing a close-up of the clock featuring characters from Ivanhoe which was built by W. Potts & Sons and designed by John Wormald Appleyard. The clock was converted to automatic winding in 1955 by Charles Potts and further restored in 1997. The arcade, which runs between Briggate and Lands Lane, was built by Charles Thornton in 1877 to designs by George Smith.
