In and around Little London tour

Aerial view, Meanwood Road and Camp Road

1963 View looks across housing in Little London in the direction of Mabgate. Meanwood Road is on the left running almost parallel to the edge of the view. Meanwood Street runs across the area of cleared land where rows of back-to-back houses had stood. St Matthews Church stands amongst empty plots of land separated by the former streets. Further blocks of back-to-back seen in the bottom right await demolition and redevelopment. Camp Road (now Oatland Lane) runs through the centre of the view. Newly built blocks of flats are visible. The two T shaped buildings are both Carlton Towers, which are scheduled for demolition in 2009-2010. Carlton Close and Croft can be seen below.
