4th February 1937. View of number 33 Cardinal Road, a branch of the Leeds Industrial Co-operative Society Ltd showing the butchers and grocery departments.
'Probably the earliest memories I have of the Leeds Co-op is the local Co-op on Cardinal Road. I must have been about 7 years old and my mother used to send me round for the potatoes and she always used to be sure I would remember the dividend. I ordered the potatoes at the counter then went through to a back room to wait for them.... I always knew when they were coming because they came down a metal shute from the floor above and they made such a racket I knew when I was going to be served.'
