The entrance

c1906. Image shows brother and sister, Alvary and Cynthia Gascoigne mounted on horseback in front of the porte-cochere, the grand entrance on the west side of their home, Lotherton Hall. This new extension to the house was carried out in 1903. Alvary (born c1893) and Cynthia (born c1898) were the children of Colonel Frederick Richard Thomas Trench Gascoigne, who had inherited Lotherton Hall in 1893, and his wife, Laura Gwendolen, nee Galton, daughter of Sir Douglas Galton. This image is re-photographed from an old original.
