View looking south. On the right is Dyson's the jewellers and clockmakers established in 1865. Its famous clock has been a meeting point for generations of Leeds people. The shop was threatened by the M.E.P.C. scheme for the redevelopment of Boar Lane in 1971, but demolition plans were withdrawn in 1973 and the shop was closed for strengthening and refurbishment in 1979-80.
