The Theatre de Luxe was opened on Kirkgate in December 1910 and closed in May 1934, it was only small having just 383 seats. In this view in 1936 it is being used as a dress shop called de Luxe. Alexandra Cafe and Tea rooms are at number 15 with the shop window to the right of the entrance advertising wedding cakes. Next door the de Luxe dress shop in part of the old cinema is Sloan's Billiard Rooms. Lipton's, grocers, can be seen to the right at number 18.
