c1930. Postcard view of Churwell Railway Station taken c1930. The station opened on 18th September 1848 on the Leeds side of the viaduct (the railings of the viaduct are seen, left.) The chimney of the brickworks is visible, left of centre, and Snittles' Farm is in the background. The Right Hon. Herbert Henry Asquith M.P. arrived at Churwell Station on Wednesday 16th October 1895 and was met by Charles Scarth, the Mayor of Morley. The party drove up Churwell Hill in an open carriage for the official opening ceremony of Morley Town Hall. Churwell Station closed on 2nd December 1940. Photograph from the David Atkinson Archive.
