As a youngster in the early 50's, I recall one of the shops on this balcony above the rivers edge, being Wigfalls who sold electrical goods, mainly the then new TV's. Wainwrights also had a sports shop fronting onto the main road as my dad bought me some of my sports gear there over my school years. The upper floors of the building are very much the same, only the ground floor appears to have entered the more modern appearance.
