Undated. Interior view of main entrance. The house was built around 1650 for Richard Lodge, with later additions.

When Red Hall became a Leeds CC old folks home in late 1946 my mother, a widow was the head cook there. I was 6 months old and we lived in the hall. My bedroom was in the huge attic and my mothers was at the bottom of the stairs. We lived there for about 2.5 years until my mother became warden of Oakwood Hall, old folks home, and we moved there.

The Hall had a magnificent staircase with a scarlet carpet. One day as a 2 year old toddler I found the black ink pad and Red Hall stamp on the wardens (Mrs Harling) desk... Not long after I was found surounded by hundreds of black stamp on the scarlet carpet...
