I'm Church Warden at St Matthias at present. I came across old Church magazines with the same picture on it, dated 1913. I found evidence that in the Leeds Archive dept. there are records dated 1914 showing the specification for the new clock along with the Registrar's account for faculty.

i lived in Cardigan View with my father Albert, who worked at the Power station my mother Kathleen who worked for John Blackburn the printers and my sister Alison who was christened in this church in 1958. I was in the choir in the early 60/s and you were paid 2/6 if you sang for a wedding so if two were booked on the same day you were really in the money. I also attended brownies in the hall at the back of the church so I guess that was around 1957/8

I sang in the church choir during the mid 1960`s and was paid half a crown if we sang at a wedding (a fortune for a young lad in those days!). The "head boy" of our choir I believe was called Philip Bussey. The vicar at the time was Rev. (Harry?) Cooke. It would be good to hear from anyone who remembers me from that time.

My parents were married at this church in 1952 (Joan Oates and Arthur Dickie) and I was christened there in 1953 (Christine Dickie). My eldest son (Christopher) was christened there in 1977. My grandparents were also married at this church but I do not know which year there names were Minnie Mirfin and James William Oates. The Mirfin family lived and grew up near the church in Burley.
