Description:
Undated Occupied by various families including the Hawksworths Fawkes (of Farnley Hall) and the Horsfalls. The house was built over various dates and is of varying styles. It was used as a children's home and is now being renovated for commercial use.

i USED TO WORK AT HAWKSWORTH HALL WHEN IT WAS USED AS A RESIDENTIAL SPECIAL NEEDS SCHOOL, IT IS BELIEVED THAT THE MAIN BEDROOM UPSTAIRS, ALSO KNOWN A THE ROYAL ROOM WAS USED BY JAMES THE 1ST,WHILST VISITING THE AREA, THE HALL WAS BUILT IN THE SEVENTEENTH CENTURY, ALTHOUGH THERE IS TALK THAT AN EARLIER HALL WAS BUILT, AND APPARENTLY IS MENTIONED IN THE DOOMSDAY BOOK ! THE HALL AS WE SEE IT IN THIS PICTURE, WAS EXTENDED IN THE NINETEENTH CENTURY. SOLD OFF BY SCOPE, FORMERLY THE SPASTICS SOCIETY, IN THE 1990'S, THE HALL HAS SINCE BEEN PURCHASED. i RE-VISITED THE HALL A FEW YEARS AGO, AND WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD BEEN SOLD TO A PROPERTY DEVELOPER WHO WANTED TO MAKE IT INTO FLATS, ALTHOUGH i DO NOT KNOW IF THIS WAS TRUE OR NOT, IF ANY ONE ELSE HAS ANY INFORMATION REGARDING THE HALL I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU, AS HAWKSWORTH HALL IS OF VERY MUCH INTEREST TO ME

I am actually connected to Hawksworth Hall through blood. My father has been researching his family tree for years now and we have connected and gone past Walter de Hawksworth. If anyone is interested in the family tree etc, please don't hesitate to contact me : justjen@theoldco-op.co.uk Since my father had 2 daughters, this Hawksworth line finishes with me and my sister, so if anyone knows of anyway my father can get to have a look around Hawksworth Hall, you would make the Hawksworth very excited and proud.
