Undated Postcard showing Six Chimneys, which was a large, timber-framed building which stood at the corner of Legh Street and was built in the 1500s. Crown and Anchor pub can be seen on the left. Building no longer exists.

If this building had been in the 'Home Counties' or almost anywhere else in the South of England, it would have still been standing today. Why didn't the West Riding County Council, or whatever they were called at the time, look after this 16th century gem?

I have a postcard with a similar picture of this building, also on the card are pictures of The Bullring and The West Riding Asylum. The postcard was sent to my grandmother by her mother from Newmillerdam. My grandmother at the time (1908) was working in service in Harrogate.
