Description: December 1960.
On 26th November 1960 part of Methley was the scene of dramatic flooding. This was due to heavy rain fall causing the River Calder to breach at a bend.
Photo shows a row of terraced houses submerged in the flood water nearly up to the top of the first floor window. The front left cottage was the home of Margaret Hemingway of Methley.
