26th July 1935 From Briggate looking along Boar Lane towards City Square. Number 1 is C.J. Hardy and Co, clothiers and outfitters. Then Craven Dairies Limited at number 4. All the shops have advertising signs including 'Half price day today (Friday) at Hardys'. Hardys extended on the first floor above the other premises as far as number 7 when the upper floors were taken up with the Trevelyan Chambers. The architect of this building (and much of Boar Lane) was Thomas Ambler, built in the 1860s.
