Comment:
Fred Verity was my great grandfather. Born Joshua Marland Verity in 1847 at Stanley, he was the fourth son of one Charles F Verity who was Mayor of Doncaster 1881-1882. After the demoltion mentioned here, the firm of Ironmongers was continued by his sons, and grandsons on these premises in brand new buildings, until the 1950s, with a further branch being opened in Newcastle Tyne in the early 1900s. This Verity family originated from the village of Woodkirk, near Morley and can be traced back to the late 1690s. I'd be happy to enlarge on the Verity genealogy to anyone interested.
