9th June 1929 View from North Street. On the left, Heatons Buildings, clothing manufacturers. On the right all listed at number two New York Road are Miss Ethel Schofield, ladies hairdresser, Magneto Repairs Ltd, parcels office and ladies. Sign on wall reads 'Don't let shopping tire you. Request your shopkeeper to send your parcels here for collection'. Also Salvation Army Yorkshire Headquarters.

I worked at Heaton's from age 15, it was such a nice place to work at, I never knew there were all those building's opposite, it was a car park & the A.B.C. Cinema, I remember Prince Charle's going past, management let us all out to wave & cheer.
