Static Water Supply, Municipal Buildings, Headrow
Description:
23rd June 1942. View of three static water tanks, built on Headrow Gardens to provide water in emergencies. On the left is Calverley Street, Municipal Buildings housing Central library, Art Gallery and the Police Headquarters. To the right is Cookridge Street junction with Headrow, Permanent House on the corner. In the lower right corner is a car fitted with gas bag on the roof, this was to conserve petrol.
