This is still a bakery under the name of GREGGS. Our family Dr, Eric Hyman had his surgery immediately just around the corner to the right in the 70s/80s/90s. Comm 15-Aug-2008, my 71st birthday, incidently.

Whatever happened to TUROG. When did that great rival to Hovis disappear? When I was young it seemed that nearly every baker's sported a Turog sign; not always of this style as I recall, but always in gold ( ie:- paint ). It seems that the name, and the right to use it and bake the bread was franchised. For all those who still crave this bread, there is hope. There is, as I understand it, a Turog Bakery situated within the confines of the St. Fagan's Natural History Museum in Cardiff, South Wales. It is a working bakery where the bread can still be bought. So, if you're ever down there - pop in.
