My favourite shop. I lived just round the corner from the house on the right of the picture, in Hetton Road. You could get these lovely green lollipops that were shaped like a poplar tree - Yummy! They sold all sorts of things. Years later when I got married, my mother bought me my first posh tea-set there!

Lived across the street at 168A many, many years ago. Didn't this store eventually become the Ascough's newsagents? I remember the Post Office and the sweet shop. I used to get a "Mars" bar with my 6p pocket money back in those days...I wonder if Margaret knew me??
