My grandad worked on the construction of this bridge. My father told me that it was regarded as one of the finest examples of skew bridge design. The angle of the stones comprising the bridge can be clearly seen in this picture.

WOW Really? That is pretty cool! I think it's very interesting how people back then actually knew how to build and make things last. Not like some structures nowadays. I travel under this bridge every day.

I remember this wall very well as it was imprinted on my large swollen forehead in 1957ish after hitting it at approx. 20 mph when I became airborn after my front bicycle wheel got stuck in the tram line as it curved to go under the bridge, the bike followed the tram line... I followed a straight line... and my head met the wall like a bullet.

bult to last yes but it did not keep the water out as stated it was allways damp and dripping as was the next bridge going towards leeds wear i used to live on wykbeck mount i would think mostly from raine water but ther againe in them days the traines did flush onto the track
