SIr James Kitson in his study at Gledhow Hall. In this year he was elevated to the peerage as Lord Airedale, after serving as a Liberal MP for the Colne Valley from 1892 to 1907. He was chairman of the family firm, Kitson and Company Limited, Airedale Foundry and the Monkbridge Iron and Steel Works. He died in Paris, on 16th March, 1911 and death duties came to £150,000
