Large cover on left has been removed from disposal shaft, she is tipping down a shovel of ashes from a coal fire. On the wall, under the shelf of crockery, is a notice giving instructions for using the system. 'Do Use It for Ashes, all small tins, and refuse that will pass the gauge. Don't Use It for Large or Long articles, rags etc.' A separate building on the estate was provided for these.
