1899 Taken by Alfred E Mattison during 1899 official enquiry into Leeds Insanitary Areas. The man in the bowler hat is an inspector. Image shows an alleyway with buildings on either side. People are stood in the doorways of the buildings while on the left children are lined up against the wall, all in period dress.
