Crag Farm, Granary Steps

Crag Farm, Granary Steps
1986 Granary store, built around the late 1700s. It was usual to locate a granary on an upper floor, it gave better protection against rodents and thieves. The stone steps are very worn.

Well I remember those steps, on threshing days as a kid I would watch the men carry 16 stone railway bags of corn up to the granary. No wonder the steps are worn. At the time I would be in charge of the chaff, a lot,lot lighter than the corn. Oh happy days.
