Description:
Undated, Photo possibly dating from the early 1960s. This view is looking from Vicar Lane entrance of the arcade towards New Briggate. On the left Charlie Gould Ltd have a dress wear hire service. To the right double fronted shop business of Pets and Aquaria Ltd. This shop was popular with children, one window always featured a litter of kittens or puppies. Inside a selection of small pets and fish were always to be admired.

As a child in 1950's I had many pet's from the pet shop. The last one is my cat Jack who I saw in the window as a tiny kitten in 1992 he will be 15 next month. Happy childhood memories.

I bought two tortoises from here in the early 1960s Percy Shelley and Crusty Pie.. You could pay 3/6d for a small one or 5/- for a slightly larger one.
