The field above Otley Road on the left of the photo, contains the Lawnswood Y.M.C.A. building and playing fields. Immediately above this site is what was Leeds Grammar School Playing fields. I joined the Y.M.C.A. in 1958 at the age of 15 and kept up my membership until I was 20. Although I had played Rugby League at school, I joined Leeds Central Y.M.C.A. soccer team and had three seasons with them playing in the Leeds Red Triangle League. I was also in both the Lawnswood and Central Y.M.C.A. athletic teams. The club leaders I remember from Lawnswood were, Phil Cheale and Colin Denham.

Like Ron I used to go to the YMCA here back in early 1949-52 period. I played football there in the Red Triangle League. We were all very young and were regularly beaten by as amany as 20 goals. Jack Clark was the YMCA leader who moved and was replaced by a man whose was Bernard I think( I can't remember his surname) and a Mr Gainer was the groundsman. He was an ex army man with the West Yorks regiment in York

The government buildings have been occupied for many years by the Dept of Work and Pensions but were built in the early 40's as a hospital but never used as such.

Boddington hall student buildings appear to be getting demolished at present, no doubt the land will be swallowed up under more bricks and concrete!
