In my youth I went to the Yorkshire cricket ground, I saw Len Hutton, Freddy Truman, Willy Watson and many more. I also went to the rugby football ground for many years. Now I support rugby union.

My sister had a flat in Cardigan Road overlooking cricket ground and she used to sit on the roof just outside her window and watch the cricket in the 1970's but couldnt see all the ground!

A year after this pic was taken I saw my first Test Match at Headingley and witnessed the greatest test batsman ever-Sir Don Bradman crucify the English attack. I have remained a fervent Cricket lover ever since. Four Years later I saw Lewis Jones Leeds' best ever, play his first game for Leeds at the Rugby Stadium.

There is a great deal of building going on round the curved northern edge of the Cricket Ground at the Kirkstall Road End. We stayed in Sept 2009 in a hotel, Headingley Lodge, built next to the score board stand. Watch cricket in the evening from your bed! Awesome.

This photo was taken three days before the first home match of Leeds' 1947/48 season. The result was Leeds 8 v Bradford Northern 20. However, just a few months before on 21st May 1947 Leeds had their record home crowd of 40,175 for a league match, also vs Bradford Northern and it was a 2-2 draw. Usually the season would have been finished by end of May but 1947 was a year of huge snowfalls, so the season was extended.
