I attended Abbey Grange from 1987-1991. I travelled from home in Holbeck on the No.74 bus. This picture shows the back of the school where I think an extension is now built. We used to play football on the tennis courts in the foreground of the photo or in drier months we would play on the grass where this picture was taken from. My classroom for registration etc was the room on the top floor on the far left of this picture. My seat used to be on the back row next to where you can see the steps coming down. The class teacher at the time was called Mrs Albert.

I can't say much about the past Abbey Grange, but as a currrent pupil, what was the science block still is and same with the main hall. Just above the hall roof is now the maths corridor, but is possibly due to change soon. The steps visible down from the hall now lead into the courtyard and the area with the longer grass now is where the courtyard is. The area from which the photograph was taken is now where the tennis courts are positioned and where the old courts were, is now where the new building is situated, including the sports hall, the gym, music classrooms and the drama studio. The stairs down from the science classrooms are still there, in the same place. The bulding adjoining the main hall on the left is no longer there and is replaced by a small single story corridor leading outside and towards the new part of the school.

Comment:
Central building with curved roof was the assembly hall with stage and balcany which Nicholas Barber used to dangle Robin Jaques from (mid to late 1970's). It only seems like yesterday that I was was sitting in the science room (far top right classroom. Mr Richardson was our form teacher and science teacher. To the left of the hall are the changing rooms for the gym which to the left off the picture. We also had some great games of playtime football using those steps as goals. All the grass was always well cut and this photo was taken at the top of a grassy slope.
