Thwaite Gate, River Aire
Undated, View looks along the River Aire in the direction of Thwaite Gate. Several chimneys are reflected in the water to the left and a small boat is moored on the right.

Having researched this area for a period of time, due to ancestor business connections. I think that the view is the reverse of that suggested. The buildings on the right are very similar to those on other photos showing the 'ferry' houses. The industrial building on the left would then fit being 'Hunslet Iron works', later known as 'Hunslet Forge'. There are a number of large buildings with chimneys in the background also. This would not have been the case if looking downstream from Thwaite Gate. Date wise pre 1900, as it is prior to the redirection of the river.
