Description: Undated
Photo dating from the early to mid 1950s, showing Sheepscar Beck. On the left is the Springwell works, a large factory built as a leather works, then used as a cloth finishing and dye works. The beck would be of varying colours due to the waste which this and other factories released into it. To the right is a haulage yard, this was the business of Yardley Transport Ltd, Leeds and London. They also opened a garage at the junction of Meanwood and Cambridge Roads, which was named after the original site. The yard was in the vicinity of Spa Buildings, the area built around an ancient sulphur spring. The garage was called the Spa Garage.
