Description:
Undated, Image shows a row of through terraced houses with private gardens. Clothes are visible hanging on a line stretched across the garden of number 1 on the right. These houses have entrances onto Kirkstall Road and are also designated as numbers 555 to 579 Kirkstall Road. Therefore number 555 Kirkstall Road is also number 1 Stansfield Road visible on the right of the image.

In 1901 David Cockling, a woollen cloth presser, lived at 5 Stansfield Row with his wife and 11 year old daughter. Two doors down at 9 Stansfield Row lived his brother, John R. Cockling, also a woollen cloth presser, with his wife and four children. These two men were my Great-Grand-Uncles. Their Mother, Ann, lived at 8 Back Lloyd Street, whilst another of their brothers lived round the corner in Lloyd Street. Families didn't move far from each other in those days!

my grandparents John & Ester Yendell lived at no3 Standsfield Row (Dobby Row)They had a large wooden hut at the bottom of the garden from which they ran a greengrocer`s shop.these houses also had cellars I spent many a happy hour playing down there.The back of the houses was Kirkstall road I can remember going there to watch Father Christmas go bye on his way to Lewis`s after he had landed at Yeadon Airport that would be around 1950. My grandad also worked at one of the piggery`s on Dobby Row I think the owner was called Mr Hargreaves.

My great, great grandad William Walker Johns lived at nos 21 and 22 Stansfield Row. He had 12 children, and 8 of them were living with him and his wife in 1911. (source: census)It's great to be able to see what his house might have looked like!

Hi, David. One of your female Yendells married into my Great Grandmother's family. She was a Cockling ( later a Johnson )with heaps of brothers and I think it was one of these who married a Yendell girl. I'll check it out and post my findings on here later. All best Brenda

My great grandfather and great grandmother Patrick and Norah McGuigan need Cockling lived about 1907ish at 20 Mansfield row. If anybody has any information on any of their parents the information would be appreciated
