I went to school and played with Colin in and around these streets when we were about 7 or 8 years old. I lived at 22 Highfield street with my 3 brothers, Paul, David & Christopher.

Comment:
My late Wife's late mother - Florence Martin nee Butler - always said that she had some connection with 'Holbeck' but never made much of it, she had greater recollections of Hunslet. She had been born in Derby in 1906, but her 'Factories Act Birth Certificate' at the time of her 13th birthday in 1919 - required for employment purposes, placed her in Sidy Street Hunslet. However, the early release of the 1911 census places her here - aged four, at 12 Algeria Street. Also of interest, is that the census district was listed as 'Holbeck' not Beeston.
