New Church Place, St Mary
Description:
1956, View looking up the even numbered side of New Church Place. Numbers run in descending order from the left down to number 30 on the right. There is a gap in the row between numbers 36 and 40 where number 38 has been demolished. On the right edge is an outside toilet block. In the background the spire of St Mary's Church can be seen. This was a Church of England church, designed by Thomas Taylor and consecreted October 1826. Unfortunately Thomas Taylor died a few months prior to the consecretion after catching a cold within this church.
