Ward's Fold, no. 7, Linsley Fold

Description:
1956 Ward's Fold runs from the left edge to the right edge with Linsley Fold running along the side. This property is no.7 Ward's Fold which had at one time been the White Swan Inn. This public house dated from at least the 1890s and closed in the 1940s. The chimney visible towards the right is likely to be part of some maltings used in the brewing of beer.

My Father Herbert Green was born in Wards Fold in 1901 at No 38 on the 1901 census he his listed as 6 weeks old. His father was Thomas Green and his Mother was Catherine and a brother James aged 7 Thomas my Grandfathers job was a coal smith striker and he work at Greens Lawnmakers on North st My father use to tell me he would take his dad lunch to work for him sometimes. I never knew my grand parents they both died early.

My grandmother lived in no 12 Wards Fold in 1911. She was Sarah Lodge widow and lived here with her 6 children. My mother Hilda was her 2nd youngest. The family moved to Linsley Fold no 29.My uncle Amos Lodge married Bertha Green 1933
