26th November 1957 Image shows buildings on Winker Green at the rear of blind back terraced houses numbers 60 to 66 Theaker Lane. Building debris in the foreground suggests out buildings that have been demolished.

The debris used to be number 1 Winker Green Barbara taylor Bradfords,mother was married from there,a couple called Ogle lived there Freda walker, Barbaras mother must have lived with them At the back of these houses was the "Brick Field" very poor homeless people lived there,some in tents and just lean to's.,wood or tarpaulins for shelter.Only camp fires and paraffin stoves to cook.One man kept a pet fox and ealked it round on a lead.he used to catch hedge hogs and roast them in clay. The childrenwent to Christ Church School and their only address was the "BRICK FIELD"How they lived through the winters,I never knew.A lady councillor came forward,made may complaints and had them moved into houses Although they were all hungry,and poorly clad we never had any trouble.doors were left unlocked or kept on a string through the letter box,I remember my mother giving a little girl with a badly deformed face some clothes,I had outgrown has anyone else any memories or stories of the "BRICK FIELD".
