I used to live in No.42 with my Mum & Step-father. A lady called Ann Lincoln lived in No. 40, she passed away in that house, very sad, lovely lady too! We then moved to 98 Moorside Road.

Comment:
My grandparents Godfrey and Olga Heron lived at 42 from the late 30's to the mid 60's. They had a large family, but only two bedrooms. There were two staircases, one from the front door and the other from the kitchen, because the house had been divided at some stage. The former outside toilet was adjacent to the left of the house (you can see marks on the wall). The garden wall was originally very high at the side and that at the front used to be higher, with iron railings that were removed during WWII. The house was owned by Mr and Mrs Barron who lived at number 40 and I remember taking the rent round to them.
