Denison Hall, South-East View, Hanover Square
c.1905 South-east view of Denison Hall designed by William Lindley for John Denison. Formerly John Wilkinson, he changed his name to Denison on inheriting the fortune of his Uncle Robert Denison on his death in 1785. The house was built in 1786 on land purchased for £8500 but John Denison only lived here a short time as on his marriage in 1787 he moved to Ossington Hall. Various occupants followed over the years but by 1917 it had become a nursing home then in 1962 an old peoples' home. Later it was vacant for some years before being converted into indivudual flats. Photograph by Wormald of Leeds.
