Pond in Middleton Woods
c. 1897 View of a pond in Middleton Woods which has a derelict dry stone wall on its right and a wooden fence on the adjacent side. There are trees and shrubs surrounding the pond. A boy is sitting on the loose stones of the wall. The actual photograph is entitled "Hindell's Pond" but we have been unable to find the name on old maps. There were generations of a Hindle family (spelt differently) living at Windy Hill. The 1881 census shows a James Hindell, farmer of 77 acres, at Park Side, Beeston. We have so far not found evidence of a connection. Refer to 2002325_52155703 for an earlier view of the pond in a less run down state Description amended with the help of commenters May 2016
