The Hollies

Description:
12th May 1927 Image shows two groundsmen stood infront of The Hollies, built in the 1860s. In 1921 the property and extensive grounds were presented to Leeds by George Brown in memory of his son Major Harold Brown listed as killed in action in 1918. The house was used as a sanatarium for children suffering tuberculosis, while the grounds became a public park.

Around the date of this photo my mum Terry Walker was a patient, she had TB but was one of the lucky ones as she recovered, she lived to be 87 and often spoke of her time at the Hollie sand of how well she was cared for.
