My grandmother Sarah Annis Walker, third child of James Arthur and Jane (nee Stacey) was born at No 2 on 24th July 1883. James was employed as an Engine Cleaner at the time.

The nick-name "Lemmy" is thought to be from the Leamington Cricket Club who played in this area. Leamington CC were one of the 8 founder members of the Leeds Cricket League in 1892.They were League champions 4 times during their period of membership which ended in 1903.

This photograph looks to have been taken from outside 32 Croydon Place. I lived at no. 36 with my parents Joyce and Frank Reyner until March 1965. Ours was a two up two down with an outside toilet block to the left and behind where the photographer was standing.

my granny mrs langstaff lived at 34 croydon place in the 40.s and 50.s my 3 sisters and i spent a lot of time there in the 50,s, thought a young girl lived at 36 who used to play with my sisters ??
