THE LADY WHO OWNED THE HOUSE USED TO LET US PLAY FOOTBALL ON THE BOTTOM LAWNS (NOT IN PICTURE)THERE WAS A STILE OPPOSITE THE HOUSE (ASKET HILL) WHERE SHE USED TO GREET HOMECOMING SCHOOLKIDS WITH A BIG BAG OF TOFFEES

IN SPRING THE GARDEN WAS A MASS OF CROCUS FLOWERS. WE USED TO GO ESPECIALLY TO SEE THEM.

I lived in one of the tied cottages belonging to this house from about 1955 to 1959. The original owner was Mrs Schofield (owner of the store) but she sold the main part of the house to Mr and Mrs Butler and lived in an annex. The Butlers had 2 children Frank and Hannah. Frank was tragically killed in a mountaineering accident in Snowdonia about 1958.
