1969. View along Houghley Lane covered in snow showing Carmel House to the left, with St Bede's Vicarage to the right. Carmel House had originally been Hill Top House then became the Convent of the Good Shepherd. It was later divided into Carmel House, which dealt with child welfare, and St Bernadette's School. Further along Houghley Lane was Hill Top Tannery, later called Hill Top Mills and Planet Works.
