Yes this is the one that is next to Allerton High School, although there is another home on the Cranmers. Think it's at the junction with Cranmer Bank and Saxon Grove it does look very similar.

I think several council estates around Leeds had a childrens home almost identical to this one. When I was a member of Lawnswood Y.M.C.A. some fellow members were living in the home on the Ireland Wood Estate.

(The descrpition says that this house is on the Moortown Estate, so I dont understand why everyone seems to be debating where it is - it says where it is under the actual picture?) I would like to hear from anyone who was in the Street Lane children's home from about 1975 - my memory isnt great but I think I was there about 2yrs? I initially started off in the main building (Alverton did they call it?) then I moved to another one in the grounds - I think it was called Margaret Home but could have even been Devonshire House....it was the 1st building to the left of the main building, at the side of the playground anyway?? Would be nice to hear from anyone that was in the home at any time, but especially anyone that was there the same time as I was.

My Grandmother used to work in this Children's Home on Lingfield Approach, Leeds 17. She was the Cook and worked there from at least the early 1950s until she retired. The home was managed by a Miss Kellett, and when she retired she moved to Scarborough.
