Village Pump

Description:
23rd May 1908 A group of children in Edwardian dress stand beside the village pump which was situated close to the site of the War Memorial, close to the junctions of Willow Lane, Bramham Road and the High street. The War Memorial was erected in 1921 and the village pump was removed in 1936. The Green Dragon Inn can be seen in the background, right, in Willow Lane. It was no longer in existance by 1912.

"The house behind the pump (which I only remember as the cross) is called Mount House and was occupied by my family for a considerable number of years, my Grandma was born here, one of a large family. The family were called Eastwood and they are all buried in the Anglican church just inside the gates on the left hand side. Their son John was killed in France on the last day of the First World War 1918 and this is also noted on the grave. Mount House was the home of descendents of the Eastwood family until relatively recent times, the last occupant was Agnes Vaughan (nee Knapton) and Agnes was the post delivery person for the whole of the area which she covered by bicycle". Over the many years the Eastwoods were resident in Mount House it was a rented property and I am given to understand that the owner was a Mr Gray (obviously a descendent of the original owner)."

I am trying to trace a relative born in Clifford about 1871, the surname is Moon, thus far I have been unable to find records of two people with that surname and I don't think it's them
