there has never been anything wrong with gipton estate, its just the few wasters that live there that have give it a bad name, its the same on most estates these days.

What an intersting picture. My parents moved here from Harehills to (Amberton Crescent)in 1947. It's just a building plot in this view. I was 11 then and all I can remember is nice people and nice friends - the girls were gorgeous;-) I often think back to those days with great affection. Life was so much simpler then. Monkey Bridge, Gledhow Woods and Roundhay Park were all within easy walking range. It's interesting to note that all the background fields where we roamed as youngsters are now the vast seacroft estate. Could that be Wykebeck Valley road top right?
