Undated. These women are war-time employees of George Cohen, Sons & Co. Ltd, located in Town Street. They are working with chucking lathes to turn 9.2" howitzer shells for the war effort. The 9.2" refers to the diameter of the bore and the shells would have been 8 pounders.
