An employee of George Cohen, Sons & Co. Ltd. is working on a Howitzer shell in this image dating from the Second World War. He is using a lathe to turn wavy bands in copper band grooves of the 5.5" gun Howitzer shell. The depot was located in Town Street but closed down in 1987. The company evolved to become the 600 Group Ltd., now the largest machine tool company in the U.K.
