Description:
8th October 1979. Image shows Meynell Avenue looking in the direction of Churchfield Lane. Churchfields are at the top on the left. The junction with Ingram Parade is in the centre. In the foreground, left, are numbers 4 and 4A, E.M. Longbottom, a shop, and William Hill's Bookmakers. Adjacent to William Hill's is Van Dungie House at the corner with Ingram Parade.

The man in the middle of the 3 figures on the left hand side is, I believe, my father - Ronald Padley who was born and lived in Rothwell all his life.

I remember when I first moved to Leeds that there used to be an Indian takeaway in this row of shops. This picture is also now proudly hanging in the new morrisons showing what was demolished to build it.

My Father, Tom Craven had a business on Meynell Avenue, the long winded title of "West Riding Fuel Injection Service Ltd" It was on the left hand side of the photograph,where the two cars are passing each other. He sold up about 1990, and Van Dungie bought the premises.
